Comics for Change! 3: Alex Brown
Alex Brown, written by Amy Harwood and illustrated by Laura Heit, tells the story of the Portland native’s role as an organizer for Natural Resource Council (now Oregon Wild) and his efforts to preserve some of the state’s most at-risk wildlife.
Amy Harwood is a conservation and public lands advocate, previously serving as the Program Director for Bark, a watchdog group for Mount Hood National Forest. She is currently an organizer for Signal Fire, a program that provides opportunities for developing artists and writers to explore the natural world. Laura Heit is animation and performance artists working and living in Portland. She was co-director of the Experimental Animation Program at Cal Arts in Valencia California from 2007-2011. Her work has been featured in museums and festivals throughout the world, including Moma, Guggenheim, and the London International Film Festival.
