Oregon History Comics 6: Voices of Celilo Falls
The Voices of Celilo Falls explores the natural and commercial history of one of the countries oldest native heritage sites. This comic, written by Sarah Mirk and illustrated by T. Edward Bak, examines the complicated relationship between local tribes and the state’s use of its natural resources during a period of conservation and government intervention.Sarah Mirk is an Oregon-based writer and current online-editor for Bitch Media. Her work has also been featured in the weekly newspapers The Portland Mercury and Seattle’s The Stranger. T. Edward Bak is a cartoonist and teacher, having lectured in classrooms throughout the Portland area. A recipient of the 2007 Fellowship award from the Center for Cartoon Studies, his stories have been featured in various anthologies, including The Best American Comics.
