Oregon History Comics 7: The Lives of Loggers
This comic, written by Sarah Mirk and illustrated by BT Livermore, highlights the economic and symbolic history of Oregon’s forests. From a source of raw material during the logging boom of the 1800s, to an image of Manifest Destiny at Portland’s 1905 Lewis and Clark Exposition, the trees and the men that harvest their timber played an important role in shaping Stumptown's rich pioneering culture.Sarah Mirk is an Oregon-based writer and current online-editor for Bitch Media. Her work has also been featured in the weekly newspapers The Portland Mercury and Seattle’s The Stranger. BT Livermore, a Minnesota native, graduated from the Pacific Northwest College of the Arts in 2010 with a degree in Illustration, with a focus on design.
